EE Parliament resolves to censor songs on radio stations

Eastern Equatoria Legislative Assembly resolved to stop Radio stations broadcasting songs, drama and other programs considered immoral to the public.
 
MPs said some songs were immoral and should not be playedto the public on radio stations, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
A lawmaker Angela Ajan said some songs are very bad, abusive to women and misleading especially children.
 
State Information and Parliamentary Affairs minister Clement Loku Chichim said some songs are educative which can help people change from bad to good habits.
 
He explained that those songs that cannot help communities especially children need to be discouraged and not to broadcasted by radio stations.
 
Mr Loku said songs that bring negative impacts to children especially girls should be avoided.
 
The minister said media houses would be punished according to the Media Act.
 
The Assembly did not give definite time for the implementation of the resolution.
