South Sudan, Sudan sign Business Council agreement

The Sudanese Businessmen and South Sudan Chambers of Commerce inked a bilateral commercial agreement on September 3 in Khartoum.
 
South Sudan Chamber of Commerce Secretary-General Simon Akuei Deng broke the news to the press that Dawud Birer Mamoon head of Sudanese Businessmen signed for Sudan and Chambers of Commerce head Benjamin Bol Mel signed on behalf of South Sudan.
 
Mr Deng explained that the agreement established a Joint Business Council comprising 40 members 20 from each country.
 
He said the council will cooperate to benefit the two countries through arbitration of disputes and lobby for beneficial economic and political policies.
 
Mr Deng explained that should there be problems between the two countries the council will lobby for peace so that business get a chance.
 
He pointed out that the agreement was a gesture of good will.
 
The Council is expected to meet later this month to discuss implementation modalities.
