Lainya County Legislative Councilors on Wednesday completed a six-day workshop on capacity building and gender.
County Commissioner Huda Micah Laila appreciated Association of European Parliamentarian in Africa or AWEPA for sharpening councilors for effective work, Easter Radio reported.
She called on Councilors to use the knowledge properly in order to teach others.
AWEFA Project Coordinator Christine Dedres said they are doing pilot projects by training seven counties in Western Equatoria and three in Central Equatoria on five different models.
She explained that they are now training Lainya Councilors on gender and the next will be financial and development planning, legislation, human rights integrity peace and reconciliation.
AWEPA Operation Support Manager John Simon said they are training Councilors on gender and local council in South Sudan.
He described it as very important for planning, budgeting and sensitization.
The five-day workshop drew together all councilors in Lainya County.
