MPs protest against sessions without speaker

Some members of National Legislative Assembly started protesting on Tuesday against ongoing parliamentary sessions without the speaker.
 
An MP representing Mundri County Richard K Mulla was standing outside the Assembly hall and told CRN that he and others were protesting proceedings’ without the speaker.
 
He said the sessions were illegal and against the Conduct of Business and that he will continue protesting until a speaker is elected.
 
Dr Mula argued that he was confident of his interpretation of the Constitution urging MPs to follow the law.
 
SPLM Caucus Secretary-General in Assembly Thomas Wani Kundu said the regulation was applicable in the case of a new assembly.
 
He claimed that the lawyer misinterpreted the Conduct of Business.
 
Mr Wani revealed that SPLM members of parliament are waiting to support the party’s chairman nominee for speakership.
 
He said they are ready to compete with other political parties or individuals contesting for the seat of the speaker.
