Ministers disagreed in the Eastern Equatoria State Parliament over the issue of street children.
Culture, Social Development and Education ministers on Thursday gave different views on the population of street children in state towns, Emmanuel Radio reported.
Patrick Lodinga said majority of street children in Juba were from Eastern Equatoria.
He said about 52 street children are in Torit town and the total in other towns could be less than two hundred.
Michael Lopuke said street children increased in state towns.
He observed that hunger threats early this year pushed several children to the statemajor towns’ streets.
Minister Lopuke cited high number of street children in Narus, Kapoeta, Camp 15, Chukudum and Torit.
He said an orphanage in Magwi town of Pageri and an orphanage in Torit are catering for disadvantaged children.
The two ministers were giving their views to the state Assembly on the best ways of handling street children in the state.
