Yei River County Cooperative Union reported lack of money and farm inputs as major challenges affecting its performance in rural areas.
The Union chairman Ramadan Santino told Easter Radio that limited finance, processing machine and farming tools like tractors hinder production.
He said the Union also lacks managerial skills for running its units at the village level.
Mr Santino called on the Government and partners to support the Union in order to increase food production and achieve the goal of hunger free South Sudan by 2014.
He believed that if all the NGOs and the government join hands there would be food security in the country.
The Union was established in 2011 and registered with over 15 groups.
