Western Bahr El Ghazal Health minister pledged to increase salaries of medical personnel working in rural areas.

Addressing the graduation of 29 nurses at Mary Help Institute, Isaac Cleto said the ministry was sending medical doctors to rural health facilities with better pay.

He said the initiative was to improve health services in the remote areas and avoid medical workers concentration in urban centres.

Dr Cleto reiterated that doctors usually decline to serve in the rural areas because of lack of motivation.

He said Health Pool project in the state will ensure that doctors working in rural health centres get better pay than those in the town.

The Minister disclosed that three doctors were already sent to Wau, Jur and Raja Counties.
