Egyptian Foreign minister on Tuesday arrived in Juba for the first time since the military seized power.

Nabil Fahmi told the press that he will deliver a letter from President Ali Monsur to his South Sudanese counterpart Salva Kiir for boosting relations between the two countries.

He said after meeting national ministers he will visit a number of Egyptian projects in the country.

Mr Fahmi said the visit also focused on multidimensional issues including economic, cultural and political cooperation.

He said he will raise to President Kiir the issue of Nile water and African Union resolution to suspend Egyptian membership after the fall of Mohammed Morsi.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Michael Makuei Lueth welcomed the diplomat, saying South Sudan supports President Monsur’s government.

He described the current Egyptian regime as the government of people.

It remains to be known whether South Sudan will influence the African Union to reverse the Egyptian membership suspension.
