Candidates sitting for Kenya Primary Certificate exams in Kumbur and Iral payams of Nuba Mountains started coaching on Monday.

Acting Education Director-General Kamal Saad Kodi said there are ten coaching centres with 904 candidates and 50 tutors for this year, Voice of Peace reported.

He said although coaching started on 15 July, some centres have not yet begun due to lack of food, money and scholastic materials.

Mr Saad complained that many teachers rejected the teaching profession due to lack of salaries.

He advised candidates to come along with their own food because there is no feeding this year.

Education in the Nuba Mountains region of South Kordofan faces many difficulties since the outbreak of war in June 2011.
