The director of Lasu Payam in Yei River County encouraged people to work hard in the fields to avert hunger.
Simon Kenyi James said Lasu Payam was blessed with very fertile soil, Easter Radio reported.
He explained that if farmers plant their crops late they still grow well and the harvest is good.
Mr Kenyi said many people are reluctant to cultivate due to bad roads to take their produce to markets.
Lasu Payam Director made these remarks during the confirmation of 90 candidates at St Thomas the Apostle Chapel.
