Kiir promises Government key policy shift

The President of the Republic promised a key shift in Government polices during the third year of independence.
 
Salva Kiir Mayardit said in his speech closing the celebrations of the second anniversary of independence in Juba that his government is going to define its priorities ‘vigorously’ in order to serve the people.
 
President Kiir announced that the days of corruption and impunity were gone.
 
He said independence was achieved and now the time has come to defeat corruption at all levels of governance and bring corrupted people to the courts.
 
President Kiir had a strong word to both the commanders and the military parading during the celebrations: he told them to stop abusing civilians and be disciplined.
 
The President noted that the SPLA is less disciplined now than during the struggle.
 
He said he ‘was troubled with the alarming crime rate’ in urban areas due to indiscipline among organized forces.
 
President Kiir renewed the amnesty offer to David Yau Yau and other rebels in South Sudan to end violence and war and build lasting peace.
 
He said the continuous displacement and killings of civilians in Pibor, Jonglei State, ‘is not acceptable.’
 
President Kiir challenged the Ministry of Agriculture to bring food from its plans to the table of those who cannot afford one meal a day.
 
The President announced the inauguration of Bentiu oil refinery in August among the investments in infrastructure.
