Eastern Equatoria is safer than the time before independence.
Governor Louis Lobong Lobong listed construction of new schools, health centres and a 50-percent increase in food production as some of the achievements after the independence in the state, Emmanuel Radio reported.
The Governor boasted that no rebel groups were fighting the Government in Eastern Equatoria.
Governor Lobong said the building new offices, schools, health centres and county headquarters in all the eight counties was a substantial achievement.
He added that essential drugs are now available in all the health facilities and that remote communities like the Jie, who were neglected in the past, are now being catered for.
Governor Lobong said the number of students increased and the quality of teaching improved despite of the fact that negative cultural beliefs still stop many girls from attending school.
The Governor announced plans to construct two mixed boarding secondary schools in the state.
