South Sudan faces shortage of human resources to deliver adequate health care services.
National Health Ministry Undersecretary Matur Makur Koryom said South Sudan has a large deficit and needs to recruit 1,700 skilled health care personnel to provide minimum services.
He warned that at the moment the country is far from achieving the goal.
Dr Makur said most states of South Sudan employed 66 percent unskilled personnel, a situation which requires tough decisions to lay them off and employ skilled ones to deliver required services.
He said it was important to get the right health servants at all levels because unskilled staff drain resources that could benefit the people.
Dr Makur on Thursday received health facilities donated by the Japanese Ambassador at Kator Primary Health Centre in Juba.
