The Chairperson for the National Sub-Committee for Healing, Peace and Reconciliation said there will be a countrywide prayer on the Independence Eve to mark the beginning of the national reconciliation process among the people of South Sudan.
Stephen Oyuol, who chairs the Subcommittee for Reconciliation in Upper Nile state, said the work for healing, peace and reconciliation is a duty of every citizen and it requires prayers and forgiveness, Voice of Love reported.
He said that National Day of Prayer on July 8 will mark the beginning of the reconciliation committee’s function.
Mr Oyuol asked all the faithful and citizens in Malakal to fast before the National Day of Prayer.
He said prayers will be conducted in Helik Square in Malakal.
Mr Oyuol noted that South Sudan faced many conflicts since the independence.
He asked the communities to reconcile among themselves in order to promote peace and development in every corner of the country.
The National Committee for Healing, Peace and Reconciliation is headed by Episcopal Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul with subcommittees in the ten states of South Sudan.
Bishop Bul last week said that all the states will conduct their National Day of Prayer in the state capitals.
