Sudan said on Wednesday that the toppling of Egypt’s president on Wednesday was an internal affair concerning Egyptians, national institutions and political leaders but it wanted a stable neighbour.
The Egyptian army removed President Mohammed Morsi from power and suspended the Constitution on Wednesday evening after a long stand-off between the President’s supporters and critics.
Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on all parties in Egypt to give priority to preserving stability and security in the country, SUNA reported.
The ministry affirmed Sudan’s ‘keenness to maintain its fraternal relations with Egypt and to enhance further the bilateral relations for the interest of the two sister nations.’
It said it was following with concern the political developments in Egypt due to the special relations between the two sister countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the events in Cairo affected peace and stability in Sudan, and in the whole Arab and African area.
