Interschool competition concludes in Wau

The second national interschool sports and cultural competition concluded on Tuesday in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal.
 
Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the tournament was part of the ‘Go to school’ campaign, Voice of Hope reported.
 
He asserted that the coming of students from all the ten states of South Sudan was a milestone to national unity.
 
Dr Marial pointed out that sports are paramount for the students’ intellectual build up and can enable the government realize its goals.
 
He encouraged parents to enrol all their children to school in order to fight illiteracy.
 
Western Bahr El Ghazal Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan said sports should be given top priority for South Sudan to restore peace.
 
Warrap Governor Ngandeng Malek said the tournament gave South Sudanese students access to sports opportunities.
 
She encouraged students to exercise sports to prove themselves as potential stars of the country.
 
Western Bahr El Ghazal was the champion of the tournament with 16 trophies.
 
Next interschool sports and cultural competition will take place in Malakal, Upper Nile State.
