Excitement overwhelmed Larima community on Saturday over the Kaviva Rock Water Catchment project in Komou Boma, Budi County of Eastern Equatoria.
Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg implemented the project that cost over 200 thousand US Dollars.
Hundreds of community members turned up to express their appreciation and offered thanksgiving prayers in the traditional manner.
Elder Martin Akorongole most led the thanksgiving prayer.
He said the project was the first of its kind in the area.
Lucia Nayepwo Anthony thanked the donors on behalf of women in the area.
She said the project saves women from long distanced in search of water.
Chief Celeste Lokai of Komou Boma explained that women used to walk six hours a day to access the only borehole in the area.
Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg Country Representative Bernd Serway said the charity constructed four other similar projects in the state.
Mr Serway presented the documents of Kaviva Rock Water Catchment to state minister of Public Utility Benjamin Benaiah Kitara to hand over the facility to the Government.
State governor Louis Lobong Lojore led the government team to witness the handover of the water project.
