The State Legislators in Western Equatoria on Thursday began a two-day workshop on Human Rights promotion and protection.
The workshop focused on the basic principles and the state responsibilities in protecting human rights especially for women and children.The Legislators also learned the role of South Sudan Human Rights Commission in promoting and protecting human rights.
State deputy governor Sapana Abui told the Legislators to take human rights in an African perspective because Western cultures are far from African or South Sudanese cultures.
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan, UNMISS human right branch organised the workshop.
