Security officers on Tuesday closed SPLM secretariat office in Wau following misunderstandings on the arrangements to officiate the new members of the secretariat.

Wau SPLM Secretary-General Paulino Adam Naro told Voice of Hope over the phone that the security personnel confiscated cars and keys of the office and ordered all the staff to temporarily evacuate the offices for security purpose.

He said the office which was closed temporarily was re-opened in his absence and the new members took over.

Mr Adam said the procedure taken to assume office was not legitimate because they were still waiting for the national secretariat decision from Juba.

He lamented that the eviction of old members from the office undermined the role of the high ranking officials in the national secretariat.

Mr Adam said the Wau secretariat was not notified about the election process.

He said for SPLM Liberation Council to do any election, the secretariat in the state should endorse and call all its 51 members.

Police commissioner in Wau could not be reached for comments about the security arrangement in the SPLM office.
