Security operatives arrested 13 people for conducting illegal registration of residents for plot allocation in Torit, capital of Eastern Equatoria.

The suspects, including Fodofodo Boma chief, on Wednesday were moving around Torit to register households for five Pounds to acquire land for settlement, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Torit County Commissioner German Charles Ojok confirmed the arrests to the press on Thursday saying some individuals were also involved in photocopying and selling household registration forms at 25 pounds.

Commissioner Ojok said the County authority deployed security operatives all over the town to search for the suspects who were defrauding residents.

He added that Nyong payam community chairperson was interrogated and advised to withdraw the registration forms immediately.

Commissioner Ojok said no community has the mandate to survey and allocate plots to people in town.
