Forty youth from Torit’s Sts Peter and Paul and Our Lady of Assumption parishes on Thursday conducted a one-day workshop to change lives of young people.

Torit Diocese Youth Coordinator Joseph Otto said the youth gathered to prepare programmes that they can carry in the Church, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He said the youth have many activities to implement but they have to translate programmes through planned priorities to produce something for social change.

The coordinator stressed that the Church needs youths to be productive so that they change the society by developing their potentials in dynamic pastoral programmes.

Fr Otto said the youth should be organized in pastoral work so that they bring in colleagues who are outside the Church.

He explained that the Church needs to tell the youth who have lost hope that life is meaningful and they should discover their potentials.

Fr Otto disputed the idea that the youth cannot produce something to the society.

He said these ideas caused mistrust in young people and affected employment opportunities.

Fr OttoÊ nadded that the Church seeks to organize the youth into productive groups to build public trust so that they can be employed based on their capabilities.

He said the youth in the diocese have diverse experiences that should be tapped into for development.
