A group of armed robbers attacked and killed 11 traders who were travelling from Sudan to Renk in three lorries on Wednesday.
Army spokesperson Phillip Aguer Panyang told the press on Thursday that the attack took place at Khor Achier, close to the border.He said “the armed criminals took the lorries into the bush and killed the 11 traders.”
Colonel Aguer added that that the army sent a force to tail the robbers as soon as the attack was reported to the military in Renk.
He added that the army caught with the robbers near the border with the Sudan where they escaped after an exchange of fire.
Colonel Aguer condemned the act as barbaric.
He said it aimed at disrupting the peace at the borders.
