A US diplomat said on Tuesday that a proper Constitution framework should reflect the will of all the South Sudanese people and their identity.

Deputy Chief of Mission at the USA Embassy Michael McClellan said the members of National Constitutional Review Commission have the opportunity to define and determine what kind of country they want to have.

He added that it was a significant responsibility for the commissioners as the ethnically and tribally diverse nation tries to define itself.

Mr McClellan said wider public information and civic education will ensure that the country will come up with a permanent Constitution that enshrines all views and values of the peoples across the country.

He said to be inclusive, the process has to engage everyone including women, youth and other groups that are usually sidelined, and their rights are to be incorporate in the Constitution.

The diplomat was speaking at handover ceremony of the National Constitutional Review Commission headquarters on Tuesday in Juba that USAID helped to renovate.
