Western Equatoria Government has set up a number of road blocks in the state in a bid to stop the illegal booming teak business.

A Yambio resident told CRN that the night movement of heavy lorries involved in illegal teak transport is huge.

Governor Joseph Bakasoro Bangasi said dealers were paying very little for the teak they were buying from locals and the Government had to intervene to save the citizens of Western Equatoria State from exploitation.

Governor Bakasoro said regulating the business will help the state raise revenues, to provide better services for locals.
