St Daniel Comboni primary school administration expelled nine pupils and suspended another 20 for organizing a strike against teachers in Narus, Kapoeta East.

The pupils on Tuesday went on strike over claims of power cuts in their dormitories and lazy teachers, locked teachers out and disrespected the head teacher.

Kapoeta East County commissioner Titus Lokwachuma told Radio Emmanuel that the decision to punish ringleaders was taken in a meeting between the county authorities, the school administration, representatives of pupils and officials from the state ministry of education.

The commissioner said the expelled pupils are not allowed to join any other school in the county while those suspended have to report with their parents.

Mr Lokwachuma added that the ringleaders of the strike are mature boys not fit to be in the regular primary schools but in adult literacy centres.
