The General Education Ministry on Wednesday received 3,500 MP3 players preloaded with 480 lessons for primary one to primary four, a gift from USAID through the Education for Development Center or EDC.

Undersecretary Deng Deng Hoc said the MP3 players will ease learning for many children, youths and adults.

He said the gadgets will be distributed to 873 schools, 359 adults learning centres and some teachers’ training centres across the country.

EDC Chief Party Johnson Odharoh told CRN that the MP3 player suffered a significant improvement.

He explained that the device has an additional memory slot, and receives and records radio broadcasts and works with solar energy.

Director of Alternative Education Systems Kuol Atem Bol said the distribution of MP3 players starts in the third week of April.

He added that the MP3 device will improve the teaching of English and other subjects.

The distribution starts at schools implementing the Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction programs that used to be broadcasted by local radios.
