South Sudan-Uganda cross border communities ended a two-day conference on Saturday inking some recommendations and resolutions aimed at bring peace among the people.

Top in the list of the recommendations and resolutions was the call for an immediate meeting between Kapoeta East-Budi-Ikwoto counties of Eastern Equatoria and Kaabong District of Uganda, Radio Emmanuel reported.

The delegates also recommended that South Sudan continued sensitizing citizens on illegal firearms in order to reduce conflict.

Uganda was urged to pass a law on illicit alcohol and Eastern Equatoria reactivated the ban on import and consumption of the illegal alcoholic drinks.

Other recommendations included awareness to communities around Kidepo in the South Sudan on the importance of the animals for their welfare.

The participants called for the promotion of alternative sources of income for the youth and women groups in Chukundum, Narus, Isohe and Bira, Lotome, Kikilai, Lorema, Lotukei, Ikwoto to curb cattle raiding, road attacks and poaching.

Commissioners, opinion makers, chiefs, local and women leaders, youths, MPs, Wildlife and Churchl were urged to continue with cross border intercommunity peace dialogue.

Bishop Giuseppe Fillipi of Kotido and MP Akelo Rose Lily signed the documents on behalf of the Kaabong District delegation.

Deputy Speaker Paul Napwon and Fr Joseph Ukelo of the Catholic Diocese of Torit were the signatories for the Eastern Equatoria delegation of South Sudan.
