NEW PRIMARY SCHOOL OPENS IN DOLEB HILL COMMUNITY, UPPER NILE

A new primary school with capacity for 1,000 pupils opened Wednesday in Doleb Hill Community of Panyikang County, Upper Nile state.

The school, with eight classrooms, toilets, teachers’ quarters and a kitchen, was built by UNICEF and partners.

The school, which was established in 1902, now accommodates 668 boys and 336 girls.

Director General of Basic Education Venansio Ayong Akol said the construction of Doleb Basic School was indeed good news for the people of Panyikang County.

He said the pupils would be able to go to school even during the rainy season.

Mr Ayong added that the sanitary facilities will definitely encourage more girls to stay in school and expect the enrolment of pupils to increase.
