The former commissioner of Wau County appeared Wednesday morning before a magistrate at Wau North Court.

John Peter Miskin told the Judge that he knew about the hearing earlier in the morning and did not have time to call for a lawyer to represent him, Voice of Hope reported.

The Judge in charge noted that the trial could not go on if the accused did not have defence.

He adjourned the hearing for March 5.

The judge added that the trials would depend on the evidence and witnesses available in the most transparent way.

As the hearing was suspended, the court did not inform Mr Miskin about the charges pressed against him.

The Judge advised the media to report on the judicial steps taken without details of the procedures.

He asked journalist not to disclose his name.

This was the second case opened in relation to last December’s deadly incidents; a number of people arrested during the Bussere road blockage are on trial at the same court.

The hearing drew a large number of concerned citizens, relatives, human activists from UNIMSS Wau and media people, nearly 100 attendants.

In a related development, Radio Miraya reporter George Livio Bahara was arrested this morning at Wau North Court while covering the procedures. He was taken to the CID for questioning and released seven hours later without charges.
