Residents in the six residential areas of Yei River County were unhappy for failing to elect their local sub chief.
On Sunday, the residents assembled at Saint Comboni Catholic Church to elect their local leader but the election never happened because the candidates did not qualify, Radio Easter reported.
Jansuk Boma Executive Chief Faustino Aligo Taligi told the voters that the law allowed area headmen to be from other payams but the sub-chief had to be from Yei payam.
He added that despite the misunderstandings between the voters and the boma administration, the law was clear requiring that a person running for sub-chief should be from Yei Payam.
