Western Bahr El Ghazal state acting Police Commissioner has promised to investigate allegations that police officers were involved in Jaw Market break-ins.

Businesspeople in Jaw Market on Monday pointed fingers at the market police for the continuous shop break-ins.

Albino Utho Mariano told Voice of Hope that his office was going to investigate the allegations and the officers found guilty would be held accountable.

The Police Commissioner noted that the police have been accused to have played a negative role during the December Wau crisis.

Mr Utho explained that any police officer involved in one way or the other in looting the market would be laid off and new and more disciplined officers recruited.

He said thieves were more intelligent than some of the police and it was difficult to deal with them.
