The United Arab Emirates based Fujairah Media Group has dismissed claims by Central Equatoria Information Minister that the company was paid full money but failed to finish the work on the state’s TV and radio stations.

Fujairah Regional Manager in South Sudan Narji Roman told CRN that the rumours that his company received the full amount to complete the CEN or Central Equatoria Network project were not true.

He explained that the company could not finish the project because the Government owed Fujaira one million US dollars.

Mr Roman said the state government did not fulfil some of the requirements including requesting a radio frequency from the national government and providing power stabilizers in transmission and studios sites.

He added that these problems were also delaying the completion of the project on time.

Mr Roman said he met with the new state information minister and asked him to pay at least 704,000 US dollars or write a letter of credit through a bank to guarantee the payment in order to hand over the TV and the radio stations.

He said Fujairah was ready to move forward with the project if the government paid the money.

Mr Roman explained that the two-million US dollars project should have been finished by March 2011 but the Government of Central Equatoria was not following the payment schedule.
