Yei residents are not happy with the sudden increase of bottled drinking water in the last one and half months in the county.

Three people manifested their disapproval to Radio Easter for having to pay two pounds for a bottle of water instead of one.

They asked the Government to intervene and restore the old price because water was life and they could not afford to pay two pounds for a bottle.

Hill Spring Water managing director Samuel Chan Bol said some machines broke down at the bottling plant and the company was not able to produce as much water as it did before.

He added the company was making efforts to solve the technical problem soon and increase the production.

Mr Chan said there was no reason for the water to be sold at two pounds per bottle.

The leader of Yei Chamber of Commerce Tito Ayambu Zakondo revealed that he wanted to address the situation to ensure that water prices went back to one pound per bottle.

With the dry season consumption of water increases and when there is a breakdown in supply traders tend to increase the price to get a bigger profit.
