Bakhita Radio Friends have expressed readiness to support the hunger victims in Kapoeta in collaboration with Community Empowerment for Progress Organisation or CEPO.

King Sebit Elia told Bakhita Radio that Bakhita friends mobilised themselves following Eastern Equatoria governor’s call to stop the hunger crisis.

He said the hunger situation in Kapoeta was too painful and all South Sudanese nationals needed to come together to rescue the victims.

Mr Sebit added that they took the situation upon themselves because they didn’t want to depend on foreign support.

He said many times people talk on radio and sometimes criticise the government but it is time to show their concern for the community.

Mr Sebit called upon individuals to contribute whatever little they have both in cash and kind.

He said so far Bakhita Friends contributed both cash money and some food items which are now in the store.

CEPO Coordinator Edmond Yakani said the hunger in Kapoeta was part of community challenges that needed urgent support.

He said they were lobbying for support to help the hunger crisis in Kapoeta.

Mr Yakani added that CEPO wanted to make it as a wider intervention to avoid similar problem from arising in the future.

Both Bakhita Friends and the CEPO are making a move to respond to the hunger situation in Kapoeta.
