National Defence Deputy Minister said the Government will not negotiate with David Yau Yau’s forces that are bandits fighting the cause of Khartoum.

Majak Agot told the press in Juba on Tuesday that the Government will negotiate in Addis Ababa the Yau Yau rebellion with Sudan, because they are Yau Yau’s masters.

He said there will be no direct negotiations with Yau Yau: either the rebellion is flushed out militarily or Khartoum agrees put freeze it.

Mr Agot said the army has capacity to deal with the banditry in Pibor County.

He expressed confidence that SPLA forces will defeat Yau Yau’s rebellion before the end of the current dry season.

Mr Agot said David Yau Yau was offered amnesty by the President.

He was promoted to the rank of General and received a V8 car, but he sold the car and used the money to fly to Khartoum to resume his rebellion in Jonglei.
