Raiders attacked Amatcok in Tonj South County killing a 13-year old girl and injuring three other people.
Tonj South Police Commissioner Joseph Mayiei told Don Bosco FM that the cattle raiders came from Cueibet County and attacked Amatcok around 1:00 AM on Wednesday.He said the raiders threw a grenade at one house and started shooting at the people who were asleep.
He said he was deploying police officers to protect cattle keepers and fishermen living in the area bordering with Cueibet.
Mr Mayiei asked residents to be patient and stay at home.
He announced that he was introducing night patrols in the county in a bid to restore security and protect lives and goods.
South Tonj County has been the scene of many cattle raids since the onset of the dry season.
