The Vice President of the Republic told civil society organizations that they could make the government’s initiative Journey of healing a success based on their performance in referendum.
Vice President Riek Machar Teny said in a consultative meeting in Juba on Tuesday evening that the Journey of healing for national reconciliation in South Sudan is another national task for the civil society groups.Dr Machar said he was politically motivated to lead the campaign.
He added that he wanted South Sudan to reconcile and overcome the past to move forward.
Dr Machar said the younger generation should not be affected by what happened during the years of struggle.
He explained that as a leader during the war he had to take responsibility for what happened.
The Government launched the Journey of healing for national reconciliation two weeks ago.
Phase one of the journey will see the training of 150 young people, 15 from each state, to be peace mobilizers toward reconciliation.
Phase two is a long term program that might take five to ten years.
