The community of Wuji Payam of Lainya County in Central Equatoria asked keepers in the area to return the cattle to their homelands to minimize violence.

County Commissioner Huda Micah Laila on Monday told the community who gathered for a meeting in Wuji Payam that cattle caused insecurity in the county because cattle raiders moved with guns, Radio Easter reported.

She urged the government to rescue the situation before it truned into conflict.

Wuji Payam head chief Noel Lobung revealed that a group of Dinka and Mundari cattle keepers entered into the area with guns, families and donkeys, terrifying the local community.

He urged the Mundari and Dinka cattle keepers in Lainya to take away their cattle for peaceful co-existence.

Lainya County paramount chief Laky Yona said the people of Lainya welcomed any person into the county but not cattle.

He added that people should take back their cattle if they wanted to maintain peace, love and unity because cattle were the cause of conflict in the country.
