The community of Gimunu Boma in Yei River County, Central Equatoria State, has started a three-day peace and reconciliation conference on Thursday.

Oliver Modi, who chairs the organising committee, told Radio Easter that the conference aimed at ironing out challenges affecting the community and pave the way for the establishment of schools, health centres, markets and roads.

Mr Modi called on the youth and women to find their roles and responsibilities in the community.

He asked the community to start planning next crop season instead of wasting time and energies in conflicts.

Yei River County Commissioner Juma David Augustine promised to help the local Government to plan the top priorities of the community.

He urged the community to remain united while pursuing possible means towards development.

The conference drew opinion leaders, ministers, elders, intellectuals, chiefs, women, men and youth from Gimunu Boma.
