Refugee leaders from Yida and the chiefs of villages near Ajuong, the site for the new refugee camp from March, held a meeting to discuss issues of cattle grazing, firewood collection and the general security situation in the area.

This was the second “go and see” visit aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence between the two communities organized by aid agencies, UNOCHA said.

Other visits will take place in the coming weeks to allow more refugees the opportunity to view the new site.

During the week, UNHCR registered 2,135 new arrivals from South Kordofan, almost doubling the figures from two weeks ago.

South Sudan is hosting almost 177 thousand refugees from Sudan in Unity and Upper Nile camps.
