The Government of Central Equatoria State has signed a memorandum of understanding with the United States Agency for International Development or USAID to improve health facilities.
The USAID seven million-dollar grant will be geared towards development of primary health care units as well as training and supply of medical equipments to the health facilities in the six counties of Central Equatoria State, Radio Easter reported.Yei River County Commissioner Juma David Augustine told journalists that the agreement was part of a new plan called “South Sudan integrated service delivery programme” to maximize funds from donors and loans.
He explained that the state ministry of health was bringing together all local health authorities in a roundtable to learn about the new programme.
Mr Juma announced that 13 healthcare units will benefit from the new USAID grant in the five payams of Yei River County.
The two-year project will be implemented by Action Africa Health in South Sudan.
