Western Bahr el Ghazal ministry of youth, sport and social development prepared a plan for new sports activities targeting unemployed youths, girls and boys, in the state.

The plan is one of the fruits of a January 17 workshop on street children which singled out youth unemployment as a major problem in the community, Voice of Hope reported.

Minister Arkangelo Anyar Anyar announced that the youth ministry is proposing sports activities because it brings people together in harmony.

He said his ministry considered sports as a priority to bring peace among the youth through competitions and other activities that can fill their free time.

Minister Anyar explained that his ministry was still planning for more sport activities to keep youths busy and not sitting idle or smoking shisha Ð behaviours that can destroy their health.

He said the sports activities were expected to kick off during the first days of January, but December’s disorders in Wau delayed the plan.

The ministry explained that he contacted partners to prepare sports grounds and donate equipments.

Minister Anyar urged the entire community in Western Bahr el Ghazal and in South Sudan to encourage youth and children to practice sports.

He called on parents to tell their children plans and activities taking place at home.
