EVE, an organization for women development, is holding a three-day conference to develop a national action plan for South Sudan in collaboration with the national ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare.
EVE Assistant Officer Eva Kiyonggo told CRN that the conference starts on Tuesday and ends on Thursday in Juba.Ms Kiyonggo explained that the conference will work on UN Resolution 1325 for South Sudan providing security for women in conflict and post conflict.
She said the national ministry of Gender has concluded a baseline study on the resolution which will be validated during the conference.
Ms Kiyonggo said the objectives of the conference include dialogue among all national stakeholders to identify priorities for an action plan development and presentation of the baseline study.
She added that other objectives include collaboration among stakeholders working on women’s peace and security issues and networking among the government, donors and the civil societies.
Ms Kiyonggo called on the participants to be ready for the conference.
She urged the participants to work collectively for the security sector reform in South Sudan.
The conference will bring together 20 people from the ten states of South Sudan, Government top officials and women from civil society groups.
