Officials from Central Equatoria Ministry of Physical Infrastructure visited Yei River County on Monday to assess the performance of its departments based in the area.

State adviser Luiz Yone George said the visit aimed to strengthen the units of physical infrastructure and empower the counties to achieve their own structural development, Radio Easter reported.

He added that land survey and town planning were key activities for local development.

Mr Yone noted that the roads in Yei were in bad condition.

He announced that the rehabilitation of Yei-Lasu road should kick off next week.

Director General of Physical Infrastructure Emmanuel Matayo Wani said the team brought some decrees and resolutions on land allocation and planning to stop private distribution.

He announced that the ministry wanted to prepare a master plan for Yei to ease land registration, and a master plan for transports that included a dry port, regulation of transports park and airstrip repair.

Engineer Matayo said the town was not well planned.
