An unidentified woman on Friday morning disappeared with a five-day old baby belonging to another mother from Torit Hospital.
24 year-old Josephine Keji, the mother of the baby, woke up in the morning only to find her child missing, Radio Emmanuel reported.The acting midwife in Maternity ward, Aringo Doreen Daniel, said the baby was stolen at 2:00 A.M by a woman who pretended to be a nurse.
The woman claimed she was taking the baby to a doctor, but she never returned the baby to the ward.
Ms Aringo attributed the loss of the baby to the shortage of staff .
She said one shift needs at least two birth attendants and two midwives.
This was the first time a baby was snatched at Torit Civil hospital.
