The spokesperson for the UN refugees agency said the UNHCR is set to open a new refugee camp in Unity State in the coming weeks.
Adrian Edwards said the Ajuong camp will help UNHCR to manage further inflows of Sudanese refugees and to decongest the existing settlement in Yida.UNHCR received assurances from the national authorities that Ajuong is safe.
Mr Edwards also revealed that UNHCR is planning to open other camps in Unity State to hold up to 110,000 refugees.
New arrivals from Southern Kordofan in Sudan will be given priority in Ajuong, which is expected to begin receiving refugees in early March.
