The investigation committee into alleged militia recruitment in Eastern Equatoria has on Wednesday declared the state Governor Louis Lobong Lojore innocent.
The five member committee chaired by John Masuwa Madansa went to Torit and consulted with various people on the allegation of militia recruitment in the state and presented its finding in Juba.The state Minister for Information, Felix Otuduha Siro said the 48 pages report dismissed the allegations of militia recruitment, illegal gold mining and attempts to assassinate Michael Losike.
The minister said the report also dismissed misappropriation of funds mobilized for SPLA forces in the frontline and the state government involvement in the death of the militia commander’s wife.
The minister stressed that the findings of the committee are clear that the governor and Eastern Equatoria state are free of the malicious claims.
Earlier, governor Lobong vowed to step down from power when found guilty but that he will take legal procedures if he is found innocent.
Several state and traditional leaders had dismissed that claims against the state governor.
