The newly appointed Wau County Commissioner took the oath of office on Wednesday morning amidst confronting challenges related to the polemic county headquarters transfer.

Eliah Khamilo Dimo was appointed county commissioner last Thursday, Voice of Hope reported.

Commissioner Khamilo promised to improve agriculture and the communications network among other essential services in Wau.

He said the government’s decision to transfer Wau County Headquarters created an embarrassing situation.

The new commissioner said the state government was not against the citizens, but wanted to promote peace and prosperity.

Commissioner Khamilo promised to deal with all the mess around the transfer of the county headquarters but warned the media personnel to give correct information.

Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan told politicians that Wau belongs also to Dinka and Jur people and not only to six groups as they said.

Commissioner Khamilo will move Wau County headquarters to Baggari as soon as the State Assembly approves the transfer.

The Assembly is expected to resume business on Friday after a four-month recess that started in August.
