Eastern Equatoria state Parliament has reopened on Wednesday for the third session in Torit after forty-five days recess.

Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Paul Napwon told Radio Emmanuel that the Assembly Business Committee (ABC) will focus on the policy statements of ministries based on the austerity measures.

Mr Napwon said the ABC resolved that the policy statements of the ministries should be realistic and implementable.

Mr Napwon said the third session will continue for one and half months before the legislators take Christmas break.

He disclosed that the calendar of the Assembly was interrupted in the last session by campaigns to mobilize resources for supporting soldiers in the frontline.

Mr Napwon said another interruption was citizens’ mobilization to cultivate after the governor decreed Fridays and Saturdays cultivation days in the state.

Assembly Conduct of Business stipulates that the Parliament opens in January till March and takes three months recess up to July, but that schedule was not followed due to national and state calls.
