At least two people have been shot dead and three others injured in gold mining violence in Nuba Mountains.
Disputes are constant since the discovery of gold in Nuba Mountains between the miners and armed men who demand money from them.An eye-witness said a group of SPLA-N fighters surrounded the mining camp on Friday evening and opened fire on the miners.
He added that one miner was shot dead by his won brother-in-law serving in the force.
The witness added that the identity of the other miner killed in the attack was not yet clarified.
He affirmed that calm was restored around the gold mine and relatives of the victims were informed that the issue would be settled.
Nuba Mountains residents started mining for gold briefly during the popular consultation period last year but stopped following the outbreak of war in the region.
